For the very first time, The Original Folk and Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm makes available in English all 156 stories from the 18 editions. As one can see in the chronological list of fairy tale collections, the label "told for children" ( fortalte for Børn) disappears after the first 6 booklets, and in 1852 came, after a series of "New fairy tales" ( Nye Eventyr) and Picturebook Without Pictures, the first collection of "stories" ( Historier). The label "stories" refers in the oeuvre of Hans Christian Andersen a movement towards a much more experimental and, in some cases, more realistic style – primarily for adult readers.
