I stood and paced the room, cursing the injuries that kept me tucked inside. Who was I kidding? No one would call, no matter how badly I was needed. What if a slayer needed my help? Called me? I hated myself for falling asleep at such a critical time. My friends were out there, too, fighting the creatures without me. The moon was round and full, set ablaze with orange and red, as if the surface had been wounded and was bleeding. Night was in full bloom, and so were the creepies.įog that had brewed on the horizon for hours had finally spilled over, gliding closer and closer to my window. Despite the gorgeousness of the view-a garden teeming with bright, lush flowers that somehow thrived in the cool October weather-my stomach twisted. I forced the dream to the back of my mind and moved to the edge of the bed to peer out the large bay window and find a sense of calm. My heart slammed against my ribs as though trying to burst free. A mahogany nightstand, with a Tiffany lamp perched next to a photo of my boyfriend, Cole. I saw walls of ivory and gold, painted in swirling patterns. Panting, my body dotted with perspiration, I scanned my surroundings. A river of warmth seemed to rush through me, strengthening me. She looked at me and gasped, reaching out to place a trembling hand on my leg. Unlike me, she had no problem with her seat belt, freeing herself and turning, her gaze landing on Emma. She was disoriented at first, moaning in pain and trying to make sense of the chaos around her. Darkness had swallowed me whole.īut in my dreams, I watched my mother blink open her eyes. Panic had made me stupid, and I'd hit my head on a sharp piece of metal. My mother's cheek had been slashed open like a Christmas ham, and my father's body had been thrown out of the car.

Her head had been twisted at such an odd angle. I'd struggled to free myself from the seat belt, desperate to help little Emma. The stillness when everything was over, and I was the only one awake.maybe the only one alive.

The sounds of metal crunching into pavement. I relived the moments as our car flipped end over end. I love Cole! He has all the things you could expect from any Alpha Male.More and more I'd been dreaming about the crash that killed my parents and younger sister. The Ali-Cole relationship is sooo good *sighs/swoons/drools*. The suspense kicked up a huge notch in this book. Things get extremely rough for her in this book, and you would think that after brutally losing her family in the first book, things could not get much worse, but oh they sure do. Alice is such an amazing female lead, she is brave, has the fighting capabilities of a superhero, is compassionate and loves wholeheartedly. I commend Gena Showalter for her ingenuity on the whole zombie phenomena. I honestly could not put it down! I was glued to my audiobook. Amazing Narration by Natalie Gold Through the Zombie Glass had me reeling for the very beginning.
